At Pluckley Church of England Primary School we work to ensure that all children thrive in a Christian centred community in which they are encouraged to enjoy, learn and achieve together. We expect our children to be secure in the knowledge that they are safe and cared for – both by us and by God; able to enjoy their time at school; challenge to achieve their best through a high-quality education; happy in the knowledge they are each celebrated for their individuality as well as their achievements.

Our curriculum is designed to bring to be broad and balanced and to nurture curiosity and passion; inspiring lifelong learning in all of our children. Full of experiences, excitement and enjoyment, we have developed a bespoke curriculum to meet the needs, aspirations and interests of all of our pupils; equipping them with the skills needed to be responsible citizens.

Our intent is that, through their time at Pluckley Church of England Primary school, the young people in our care will become:

  • Resilient and ambitious children who strive for outstanding outcomes, who use their initiative and are unafraid of making mistakes.
  • Successful learners with a thirst for knowledge who are curious and self-motivated to learn and achieve.
  • Young people with a strong spiritual foundation who embody our REFLECT values in all that they think, say and do.
  • Well-rounded individuals who have a range of strategies to support positive mental health; enabling them to live fulfilled and happy lives.
  • Confident, responsible individuals who have a strong sense of community and strive to make a positive contribution in their future role in the 21st Century and beyond.

In our school we believe that physical education is an essential part of a child’s educational development. Or children are inspired to engage in physical activity, raise their attainment, extend their potential and develop a lifelong active lifestyle.

Through our P.E. curriculum, we aim to offer a variety of activities to enhance skills in physical education; positive participation in physical education that will enable children to build self-esteem, team work and positive attitudes in P.E. allowing each child to be the best that they can be by:

  • Improving health and well-being
  • Providing high quality opportunities and outcomes
  • Encouraging community involvement
  • Promoting lifelong learning, active participation and competition
  • Raising achievement and supporting excellence
  • Having the emotional and thinking skills to achieve in PE and sport

Our vision is delivered by enthusiastic staff allowing all children the opportunity for an enjoyable physical education throughout the school gaining an in-depth experience of many different aspects of physical activity. We aim to celebrate achievement at all levels and provide physical activities that are diverse and appeal to all children.

P.E. is not only important for children health but also their wellbeing. Physical education encourages pupils to be active and supports them in their understanding of how to participate safely and effectively. They understand the barriers to participation and work to overcome these for themselves and others. Our P.E. curriculum is inclusive and ensure that pupils of all abilities access the range of activities we offer and that they are physically active for sustained periods of time in order to encourage them to lead healthy, active lives. Throughout our P.E. lessons there are opportunities for pupils to take on leadership roles in which they can build character and embed values such as cooperation and respect.

Alongisde our weekly P.E. lessons we also provide pupils, wherever possible, the opportunity to participate in a range of competitive team games and tournaments both in and outside school involving house teams as well as inter-school / inter-trust events.
